One Art

Posted in Poems by Neha

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster,

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Is This Love (or just a cliche?)

Posted in Kunal Goel, Poems by Kunal Goel

I am so lonely,
(Is this love?)
When you don’t call me.
(Is this love?)
Upset, lethargic,
(Is this love?)

The Ugly Blotch

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Thoughts by Neha

I never thought much of the small ugly blotch of fungus high up on the ceiling, where water collects on the rooftop in rainy season. It was always an ugly blotch alright. Hideous to a point. And we got so used to it over a period of time that we just stopped looking at it. More

The Men in My Life

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Non-fiction by Neha

A friend challenged me to make a list of the kind of men I like, because he was very confused. So here it goes, for your benefit Varun. Hope you see what you want.

I Like a guy who

1) Is resourceful.
2) Acts grown up when I act childish.
3) Assumes control of a problem situation.
4) Doesn’t compare me with other women, realizing that I am me, different in my own ways.
5) Knows when to be serious. More

Watt

Posted in Excerpts by Kunal Goel

As for his feet, sometimes he wore on each a sock, or on the one a sock and on the other a stocking, or a boot, or a shoe, or a slipper, or a sock and a boot, or a sock and a shoe, or a sock and a slipper, or a stocking and boot, or a stocking and shoe, or a stocking and slipper, or nothing at all. Turn Back Time

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Thoughts by Neha

Lying on your back, watching the fan swirl. Sleep is miles away from your eys. Tired to your bone, even though you have just been lying like that for what seems like an eternity. Tired yet; exhausted. Fatigued…

You want to close your eyes. But you can’t. Everytime you do, you see his face. More than ever now. More

Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird

Posted in Poems by Kunal Goel

I
Among twenty snowy mountains,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the blackbird.

II
I was of three minds,
Like a tree
In which there are three blackbirds.

Rural Electrification Project

Posted in Thoughts by Kunal Goel

I was trying to describe you to someone a few days ago. You don’t look like any girl I’ve ever seen before.

I couldn’t say “Well she looks just like Jane Fonda, except that she’s got red hair, and her mouth is different and of course, she’s not a movie star…”

I couldn’t say that because you dont look like Jane Fonda at all.

Silent Conversations

Posted in Figments, Neha Jhingon by Neha

You are perched again on your favourite tall chair and watch her closely as she hurls insults after insults at you.

She tells you that you are foolish. Something she keeps remindning you of, all the time. She tells you that someday you will get hurt. So bad that you will not be able to stand anymore.

You are trying hard not to laugh. she loves mothering you and you are always willing to be More
