I have discovered

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Non-fiction by Neha

Ok since we are very close to the end of the year, and since i have so much time on my hands (having quit my job) I think I can afford to write this up.

Since the last list proved to be a hit, I thought I’d make a new one. This is a list of things I found out about myself in the course of the last 1 year. I have prepared this after a lot of reflection and deliberation.

1. I am impatient when it comes to waiting in a queue
2. I am otherwise more patient than I like.
3. I hate traffic jams
4. I thought I was scared of heights, More

She loves me a lot

Posted in Ishan Dubey, Short stories by Ishan Dubey

I could never trust myself with heights. Maya knew it very well. But still, when her boyfriend wanted to rent a flat of their own, she chose the top-most floor in some tall building having some talk-of-the-town neighbors.

High places have always scared me. They tend to corruptly use the powers, vested in them because of their status, against me. Maya is a real bitch. More

Like you were used to…

Posted in Figments, Neha Jhingon by Neha

The blue black car is parked in the lot. That means he is at home. You stealthily climb the stairs up to his apartment. Like you were used to. It’s been a while since you’ve come to him.

Back where it all started. Back to the demons that drove you away. Back knocking on the same door. The door that repulsed you. That drove you to tears. That you shut up yourself one day. And left. Never to come back.

Tonight you are knocking on it. Slowly. Two raps. Like you are used to. You can’t stand. You are so tired. You feel your body tensing up with awkward anticipation. Him. His face as he opens the door.

Its been a while since More

Hope

That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

If you have a talent

Posted in Quotes by Kunal Goel

If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don’t hoard it. Don’t dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Silence

Posted in Songs by Neha

Lots of times and in between,
The calm inside me
In the space where I can breathe

I believe that there’s a distance I have wandered
To touch upon the years of Reaching out and Reaching in
Holding out… Holding in…

I believe… this is heaven More

My Favourite things

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Non-fiction by Neha

Last night I couldn’t sleep. There was a lot of traffic on the road. I have decided to take a break from my cell phone, so it remains switched off most of the time. Having nothing to do, I thought of my favourite things in the world and made a small list.

1. Making soap bubbles while washing hands.
2. Making pot pourries out of the dried garden flowers.
3. Staring at the moon in the wee hours.
4. Playing with stray dogs.
5. Sitting on the dividers More

A Review of “One Night @ The Call Centre by Chetan Bhagat”

Posted in Books, Kunal Goel by Kunal Goel

This is the second book by Chetan Bhagat, whose first book “Five Point Someone” was a major hit in India. This one is even better than his first book. It’s funny and interesting and very light. Bhagat is an excellent storyteller but he needs a good editor. The book is very cheap at 95 rupees, but cheapness comes at a price — bad editor and bad paper/print quality. I started reading it last night and finished it in one sitting — 6 hours straight. No, I wasn’t sitting, I was lying.

This song should appeal to all the BC Sutta (by Zeest) lovers:

Kaal se pehle wohi tha,
Kaal ke baad wohi,

Small Talk

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Short stories by Neha

I sat on the corner where the road disappeared into dust, on the milestone that declared my destination to be still a good 150 kms away. My old and faithful car spat fumes at the bend. It was such a hot afternoon. I could see waves of heat rising from the road behind me. Up ahead was only dirt. My canteen was empty and my lips parched. Hating my decision to come, all I could do was pray that some idiont would drive to this god forsaken road.

But god ain’t my friend and so I sat. Waiting. I dont know how long it was. I am sure my watch didn’t work. It couldn’t have been twenty mintues since More

We Should Talk about This Problem

Posted in Poems by Kunal Goel

There is a Beautiful Creature
Living in a hole you have dug.

So at night
I set fruit and grains
And little pots of wine and milk
Beside your soft earthen mounds,

And I often sing.
