LIGHT

Posted in Mark, Poems by Mark

Castles of minutiae built upon a beam
Careen around the bones of black holes
There, these infinitely free spirits ride
Taming the fates of constellations

For men and motes are of the same matter
Ricochets and words; finer atoms evolved
From the curves and wars with space
Do the ancient castles run their race

Not paying heed to desire but only simple Will
They are beaten back to rubble for want of standing still
Caressing the abyss they know, in their final hour
That this tale was but a moment, for a lonely flower

The Duel

Posted in Mark, Poems by Mark

How naïve and toward does the lover
With an old torn hat borrow from incantations
To make himself a sinner from a bath;
A sign of a cross

Living backwards; the river lusting for the sea
(Tricked by evaporation and bird shit)
Only the smiles condense back to the source of her
But what does he see rushing down and down?

And the sea can only rise and fall with the moon
The only true love in the solar circles:
Gravity of mountains mixed with the mystery
Of stardust craters and rockets.

Egregious grass and metal flowers slice
Dice; dance and fall, living backwards,
Fighting time
. . . for a dime . . . to pine . . . to dine . . .

The quality
That
Evolves to
Holiness

The anger
That
Chooses Peace

How do I?

Posted in Mark, Poems by Mark

Relinquish these tears to these petty words
They will Never be enough to encapsulate the void
The sister who asks if I am drunk
The mother who won’t let me hold the enfant
How do I make it go away?

Don’t let the masses fool you my friend
They are drunk on different spirits
Ride the wind on your pedals
Embrace the wind on the sunny dock
Let each fabric of nature touch you
That you may never die in her arms
Because his opposite is birth not life More

The Darkness

Posted in Mark, Poems by Mark

He looked into his eyes
Oh, what did he see?
It was just a new born baby
Nothing simpler could be

Oh he looked into his eyes
And what did he see?
It was something more wonderful
Than ever he could be

But that man couldn’t go to anger
And he couldn’t find his tears
The beauty of survival
Was lost inside his fears

Moments passed before him
Of tender happiness and joy
Too few they were to free him
From the night’s soft employ

Moms

Posted in Figments, Mark by Mark

After becoming quite irate at me for not jumping out of bed at her soonest convenience with her typical frustrated air . . . I slowly relented to her miserable mood only to overhear that the problem was solved . . . having only donned my boxers, I walked upstairs to see the unsatisfied woman cleaning dust off the floor with two cards; one of which unbeknownst to her, and her bickering nag, had the words ‘Serenity Now’ printed in large letters.

I laughed a lot about that.

Fishing

Posted in Mark, Poems by Mark

How am I supposed to know
The colour of the sky on a cloudy day
Or the feeling that lies behind a smile?

How am I supposed to know
The intent of an invitation
To a party all know I will not attend?

Answers

Would you be a dream to play on a lonely breath of sun;
To see the reminders of amber leaves glistening as you run?

As the ancient man said long ago to his love upon the rocks,
“Cry long my dear to release the lies that bite like a golden fox.”

Turn and twist and tenderly tile the fragments ‘til complete.
One day perhaps you will have your answers kissing at your feet.
