Vocabulary of Love
At first it was just a look. A long look that seemed to pull me. A mute look that didn’t speak of anything. No longing. No sparks. Nothing. Just a pull that defied all the rules. A look that had no regards for religion, age and above all, common sense.
In the ensuing years, he said many thousand words. Words that sometimes rose and fell in the silent bay of the countless mistakes that I made over the years.
Words that sometimes glowed phosporesecent on dark nights. The words that on some days flew too close to the sun, like the mighty Icarus.
And then there were words that cried with me in drunken stances. Words that I would wrap around my bosom to protect my honour. Words that I would adorn myself with, like diamonds. They were the shade from the glaring sun, lullabys on sleepless nights, soothing on balmy afternoons. Soft hymns in a white pristine church or incessant chants in a red temple carved with hundred years of faith.
Calm of hours of meditation, scent of a thousand rose petals, colours of a million butterflies, echoes of a thousand sighs. Flawlessly white like candied clouds or dauntingly black like a starless-moonless night.
The words - blindingly bright, deafeningly loud, beseechingly welcoming, words spinning serpents of gold, a new world around me… weblike. Words kissing, caressing, fondling, loving…
And then Inattentive. Words evasive, spiteful, hurting, painful, shaming words.
He turned mute then. Or maybe I became deaf. It was a long time back anyway. I dont really rememeber when. There was nothing. Only an unending silence, looming all over. Like a sad pall of gloom over my life. A Silence so hollow that sometimes you could hear it howling…
And then all the words that he scattered over the cosmos so lovingly… all those words just lost their meaning.

Nobody’s Fault But My Own
Treated you like a rusty blade
A throwaway from an open grave
Cut you loose from a chain gang
And let you go
And on the day you said it’s true
Some love holds, some gets used
Tried to tell you I never knew
It could be so sweet
Who could ever be so cruel
Blame the devil for the things you do
Its such a selfish way to lose
The way you lose these wasted blues
These wasted blues
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
That it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
When the moon is a counterfeit
Better find the one that fits
Better find the one that lights
The way for you
When the road is full of nails
Garbage pails and darkened jails
And their tongues are full of heartless tales
That drain on you
Who would ever notice you
You fade into a shaded room
It’s such a selfish lose
The way you lose these wasted blues
These wasted blues
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
Tell me that it’s nobody’s fault
Nobody’s fault but my own
