Smiles on a Hot Afternoon
Everyday you see him. He passes a smile at you and you pass one by. You dont know him. His torn clothes, his messy hair. The face covered in grime.
But the smile, ever so beautiful… more beautiful than the most beautiful rainbows that you’ve ever seen.
He cycles by everyday. Pedalling his way through the busy streets. Bringing milk to the girls. To and fro all day long. His feet scarcely reach the pedals and as he stands and waits for the pedal to reach his foot, there is ntohing more elegant anywhere in this world.
He says something unintelligible as he passes you by… and smiles his usual charming smile.
Sometimes when you come back from work, you are so tired. Too tired even to think. And when you close your eyes, you see him. Pedalling away on a cycle where his feet reach the pedals. He is dressed nicely in a clean starched cotton shirt and blue half pants, with his backpack and his water bottle, going to school. And you smile in your sleep.
Funny how somethings can make you so peaceful…
Funny how you can just feel warm on cold nights, by just thinking of some stranger somewhere in the world.
Funny how somethings can never be understood or even put to words…
