Fallen Angel

Posted in Neha Jhingon, Thoughts by Neha

In your corner, sitting by the bedside. wondering how darkness can claim so many. Blood is spilled everywhere. Its yours. From the gashes that they left. From the daggers left in your back. Darkness came to claim you. And you stretched your hand. Slowly the light is disappearing. Darkness. Pure. Unadulterated darkness.

Angels can fall. Its a self righteous suicide. You look up at the unsmiling dark skies and find comfort. Smiles are deceptive. The daggers in your back remind you of that every breathing moment. Angels do fall. They have fallen before. They will keep falling. And darkness will keep claiming them.

Maybe they dont deserve no angels. Maybe it was meant to be. Maybe angels deserve to die. Maybe it was the best thing. That another angel fell.

the night is easy comfort to sensitive eyes. the shade it brings is welcome respite from the brilliance of the light. the shadows of responsibility so gracefully cover the exits to truth. “its not my fault!” we can scream in the lonely soundproof dungeons the night creates. illusions whisper all around so sweetly like a photographer’s negative. torture becomes soft warm rain and red wine.

after these spells have been cast our dilated pupils become our natural state. they sigh in ecstacy for another day out of the burning sun. even the pain of the daggers in our backs becomes orgasmic bliss. we want so badly to pull them out. yet we cant out for fear of the scars that will linger laser bright. yes, we know, the power of the light within us all that shines brighter than any other. but even that knowledge is too bright to bear after so long in the dark.

who cares to see the fingerprints on the handles are their own; that the night has veiled the truth; that you knew all along? such is the power of the night to claim the angels’ hearts.
